City to Install New Pedestrian Safety Systems at Second Ave. and Hansen St.

City of Twin Falls News Posted on January 16, 2026

The City of Twin Falls will install new pedestrian safety signals at the Second Avenue South and Hansen Street intersection, as well as the Second Avenue East and Hansen Street intersection, starting Wednesday, Jan. 21. The new traffic signals are made possible thanks to the generous support of the Seagraves Foundation, and are part of the City’s ongoing commitment to improving walkability and pedestrian safety.

The City will be installing solar-powered Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon, RRFB, which are designed to increase driver awareness of pedestrians at uncontrolled crosswalks.

Project Details

Location: The intersection of Second Avenue and Hansen Street East

Technology: The signal features high-intensity yellow light bars for maximum visibility

Activation: The beacons are user-activated via push buttons. Once pressed, the signals will flash for a duration of 20 seconds to allow pedestrians to safely cross

Sustainability: The systems are fully solar-powered and engineered to remain fully operational even during the "worst month" of December

Traffic Impact

No lane closures are required for this project. Installation will take place on the roadside, and traffic flow along 2nd Avenue is expected to remain unaffected during the process.

Thank you to the Seagrave Foundation for helping fund the new signals. For more information regarding City infrastructure projects, please visit us online at TFID.ORG
