[ARCHIVED] Mark Holtzen To Be Appointed as Twin Falls City Engineer

The Twin Falls City Council, at the recommendation of Twin Falls City Manager, Travis Rothweiler, is expected to appoint Mark Holtzen to the position of City Engineer during the council meeting on Monday, April 22.

Holtzen graduated from Utah State University in 1999 with a Masters in Civil Engineering and Bachelors in Environmental Engineering. He also has extensive experience in planning and project management as a Project Manager and Engineer with J-U-B Engineers, Inc.

In March, a small team of city staff and Twin Falls Mayor Shawn Barigar interviewed 7 candidates from eleven very qualified applicants. After initial interviews, the team narrowed its scope to Holtzen as the primary candidate, which was supported by City Council.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve as the City Engineer and contribute to the community’s continued growth and prosperity,” said Holtzen, who was born and raised in the Magic Valley and currently lives in Jerome with his wife and three children.

Jackie Fields, who served as the Twin Falls City Engineer for 13 years, will retire in June.

“My part, as an individual and as part of the team, has been to take care of the community’s needs now and into the future,” Fields said. “I have given my best and now I pass the baton, with great personal satisfaction in what we have been able to accomplish, and with confidence in Mark Holtzen.”
