Rock Formation at Dierkes Lake Vandalized; City Seeks Information

The City of Twin Falls is seeking information regarding the vandalism of a rock formation at Dierkes Lake Park, which was believed to have occurred in early September or late-August. The formation — a triangular opening in rock overlooking the entrance to the park — was heavily damaged with what appears to be a hammer or similar tool.

It’s not know who or why the rock formation was vandalized, but the City of Twin Falls is seeking the publics help to know more. Anyone with information regarding the vandalism is encouraged to contact the City of Twin Falls Police Department at 208-735-7200.

“For many people who grew up in Twin Falls and spent summers at Dierkes Lake, it was kind of sentimental sight that greeted visitors on their way to the lake,” said Wendy Davis, City of Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Director. “It’s very unfortunate when something like this occurs because it’s a natural rock formation that can never be the same as it was.”
