[ARCHIVED] Phone Scam

The Twin Falls Police Department would like to inform our community of an active phone scam circulating in our community.  On February 1, 2018, as of 11:00 a.m. the Twin Falls City Communications Center has received four separate phone calls from citizens who are reporting a possible phone scam.  The individual identifies himself only as an attorney and explains that a family member is in jail. The individual then asks the victim to wire money to the attorney/scammer to help bail out the family member.

The Twin Falls Police Department would like to remind our community not to send money to anyone that is unknown.  Lieutenant Terry Thueson said, "If you receive a phone call advising a family member is in jail, ask for the jurisdiction of the jail and tell the person you will call the jail to confirm the information.  Do not provide any private or financial information to the caller."

If you have received a phone call like this and would like to report the incident, please call 208-735-4200.
