The Twin Falls Police Department would like to advise our community of a rash of home burglaries that have occurred over the past month. Our agency has received reports of burglaries in which the suspect has either broken out vehicle windows to activate automatic garage door openers or entered through open garage doors. The suspect(s) have burglarized a number of garages and homes in both Twin Falls and Jerome Counties, and some of these have occurred while the occupants of the home have been present. Twin Falls Police Detectives are currently working a number of leads in these cases.
The Twin Falls Police Department wants to advise our community to remove automatic garage door openers from your vehicles if your vehicle is left outside overnight. Lieutenant Terry Thueson said, “Be sure to lock all doors that allow entry into your home, regardless if it is connected to a secured garage or not. Also, leaving a light on inside your home as well as lighting the exterior of your home are also ways to deter crime from occurring around your residence. Being attentive to what is occurring in your neighborhood is an important component of keep yourself and your neighborhood safe. If you see something suspicious or out of place, do not hesitate to call the police.”
