On June 20, 2017 at approximately 11:00 am, Twin Falls City Police with the assistance of the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service executed a search warrant at 3642 north 3400 East, Kimberly Idaho. Late last week, detectives with the Twin Falls Police Department received information from a confidential source that the money was being made at this address and were able to follow up Monday June 19, 2017, to confirm information.  A search warrant was issued and served on June 20, 2017.

The Twin Falls Police Department has been working several counterfeit cases over the past few months, involving counterfeit notes in the $20-$100 denomination. Detectives were able to develop information that helped trace the notes to the Kimberly address. Detectives seized several printers, computers and paper consistent with counterfeiting and located several homemade checks and some counterfeit notes at the residence. Ricky Allen Coats, born in 1985, was arrested on multiple charges related to counterfeiting.  Federal charges are under consideration.

Detective Sergeant Luke Allen said, "We know that there are still several notes in circulation and would encourage businesses to continue to be diligent in checking to confirm the authenticity of any bills they are receiving as payment."

Press Release by Lieutenant Terry Thueson, 208-735-7206.
