The City of Twin Falls will begin charging vehicle fees to Shoshone Falls Park and Dierkes Lake beginning Thursday, March 16 and will continue through the end month of September.
Each year, the city charges for vehicle fees during spring and summer months to help cover the cost of park maintenance and to provide life guards and other personnel who keep the parks clean and safe.
The vehicle fee to Shoshone Falls Park and Dierkes Lake is $3 per car or $25 for a season pass. Season passes are available for purchase at the ticket booth at Shoshone Falls or the Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department building located at 136 Maxwell Avenue.
The city expects to see a significant number of visitors to Shoshone Falls this year, which is anticipated to reach near-record flows. As of March, flows over Shoshone Falls surpassed 18,000 cubic-feet per second, and in the coming weeks flows are expected to surpass 20,000 cubic-feet per second. Due to the high-number of visitors this season, the city is suggesting the following for a safe and enjoyable visit:
- If possible, please car pool to alleviate vehicle congestion
- Be patient and slow down while driving
- If possible, visit the park on a weekday when there are fewer visitors
- Please discard all trash in the trash or recycle bins
- Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times
Due to high water, the city has closed the boat ramp above Shoshone Falls. Water levels have crested over the safety barrier and in some cases submerged buoys that designate dangerous areas. The city will block the entrance to the boat ramp and is asking all park visitors to avoid the ramp for their safety.
