The City of Twin Falls has closed Cheney Drive between Washington Street North and North College Road due to flooding. City workers are running pumps to divert water away from the roadway, but runoff from nearby fields is making it difficult for crews to clear the roadway.
Drivers are asked to avoid the roadway by using North College Road or Pole Line Road for east-west access, as well as Washington Street North or Fillmore Street for north-south access. The city will update residents when the road is reopened.
Snow accumulation on agricultural land has been melting quickly, which has overloaded some coulees and irrigation canals that released water onto city streets. The city is asking drivers to use caution and slow down when there is water accumulation on streets.
