Posted on: January 18, 2017[ARCHIVED] City of Twin Falls Archway Committee Seeks Input on Archway Project
The City of Twin Falls Archway Committee is seeking creative input from the community on a future archway in Downtown Twin Falls. The archway will serve as both an entryway to the downtown area and a way to communicate events and information from the city, the county, and non-profits.
The committee is asking members of the community — artists, students, businesses, and citizens in general — to provide conceptual designs for the archway that reflect Twin Falls’ unique heritage. Participants are asked to consider materials, designs, and details that are befitting of an iconic entryway to the heart of the community. They are also asked to consider the use of signage in the conceptual designs of the archway.
“We want this to be an attractive entryway to the heart of our community,” said Melissa Crane, Communication Liaison for the Twin Falls Archway Committee. “In that spirit, we want our community to inspire the design by submitting their ideas, which will be used to guide the overall design of the archway.”
Conceptual designs may be drawn, painted, or digitally produced. All design ideas should be mailed or delivered by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 to the following address:

The archway, which will span across Shoshone Street between the Twin Falls County Courthouse and City Park, will include signage that can be regularly updated to communicate current events and important information to the community. In October, the City of Twin Falls discontinued the display of banners over Shoshone Street because of concerns about the safety of drivers and the workers who were hanging the banners.
“We are always looking for more effective ways to keep our community informed about current events,” said Ruth Pierce, Twin Falls City Council Member. “When our residents expressed the need for us to continue providing signage for community events, we felt that it was a natural fit to meld that into the gateway to our downtown.”
