On Monday, Oct. 17, the Twin Falls City Council approved the recommendation by the Twin Falls City Manager to appoint Tim Soule as the Fire Chief of the Twin Falls Fire Department. Soule was sworn into office by Twin Falls Mayor Shawn Barigar following the council approval.

Soule previously served as Deputy Chief of the East Fork Fire Protection District in Minden, Nev. He was selected as a single finalist out of three semi-finalist candidates, who were interviewed by fire department staff, city staff, and community members. The City of Twin Falls received applications from interested individuals throughout the United States. Semi-finalists were selected based on their qualifications in emergency management, leadership, and community involvement.

Soule has more than 25 years of experience in fire and emergency medical services. Prior to serving as a Deputy Chief in Minden, Nev., Soule served as an Assistant Chief of the Kalispell Fire Department, EMS Director for Flathead County Emergency Management, and the Clinical Supervisor for AWARE, Inc. and Youth Dynamics, Inc. in Kalispell, Mont. He earned his Master of Science and B.A. from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, and has completed the United States Fire Administration Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy.

The position of Twin Falls Fire Chief was previously held by Ron Clark, who retired after 40 years of service with the Twin Falls Fire Department.
