[ARCHIVED] Morningside and O'Leary Lockdown

On Tuesday October 11, 2016 at approximately 13:57 hours, Twin Falls Police were called to 568 Madrona Street reference to a 27-year-old male individual with outstanding arrest warrants. The male individual was identified as Justin C. Byrns of Twin Falls. Officers were advised that Byrns closed himself in an exterior storage shed with a gun. Due to the proximity of Morningside Elementary School and the time of day, Twin Falls Police contacted Morningside Elementary Administrators and recommended that all students remain inside with exterior doors locked. A School Resource Officer was also sent to Morningside Elementary for safety precautions. The School Resource Officer at O’Leary Middle School and the Bridge Academy was also notified and similar procedures were put into place at those schools. At approximately 14:12 hours, Mr. Byrns exited the storage shed without a weapon and surrendered to police without incident. No weapon was found in the shed or on Mr. Byrns. Mr. Byrns was served with three outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants. No other charges were filed against Mr. Byrns.
