[ARCHIVED] Two Arrested in Connection With Delivery Package Thefts

The Twin Falls Police Department arrested two individuals who are suspected of stealing packages that were delivered to residences in Twin Falls. Justin B. Gaarcia, 33, of Twin Falls, and Jasmine L. Hanway, 29, also of Twin Falls, were taken into custody Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28 on charges of felony grand theft. Hanway was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Beginning in May, the Twin Falls Police Department received several reports of delivery packages being stolen. Detectives do not know how many people were victims of the thefts, and they believe some residents may still be unaware that their packages were stolen. Anyone who believes they had delivery packages stolen from their residence after May are encouraged to call the Twin Falls Police Department at 208-735-4357.

The investigation and subsequent arrests were part of a joint effort involving the Twin Falls Police Department’s Patrol Division and its Criminal Investigations Division. Surveillance video from a home security camera captured a suspect approaching the home from a vehicle being driven by another suspect. The video was posted to the Twin Falls Police Department’s Facebook page that resulted in several tips from citizens.

Two search warrants were issued and served on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28, which helped in the collection of evidence and arrest of Gaarcia and Hanway. Both are being held in the Twin Falls County Jail.
