The annual Twin Falls Homecoming Parade is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, which will cause several road closures in Downtown Twin Falls to ensure the safety of students and spectators.
All parade floats will stage at the 500 block of Main Ave North. The parade route will start at the 500 block of Main Ave North and proceed east on Main Avenue, ending at the intersection of Main Avenue East and Murtaugh Street East.
The parade route will be closed from 3 p.m. until approximately 4:30 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to travel around the parade route by using Washington Street to the west and Blue Lakes Boulevard to the east.
Flaggers as well as officers with the Twin Falls Police Department will be directing traffic along the parade route. Police would like the community to be aware of the following:
- In the past, there have been instances where small children have been injured after running onto the roadway to gather candy thrown to them from passing floats. The Police Department asks that all parents attending the parade watch their children closely and prevent them from running onto the roadway. All of the parade participants in the parade have been informed that any parade float throwing candy will be escorted from the parade.
- To prevent parking congestion, spectators are encouraged to park vehicles at least two blocks from the parade route.
- Spectators are encourage to allow enough time to walk to the parade route and are asked to not block the driveway to any home or business.
