[ARCHIVED] 25 Hour Police Standoff Ends Peacefully

This morning at 7:30 AM, the Twin Falls Police Department arrested Randy Scott Lee for kidnapping, obstructing and delaying, and battery. Mr. Lee was arrested without incident. When police made entry into the residence, located at 343 5th Avenue North, Lee was asleep and or passed out.

On 12/11/14 at approximately 6:30 AM, police responded to 343 5th Avenue North for a report of a battery. The alleged victim of the battery was able to get out of the residence; however, another person was believed to still be inside with the suspect.

Several attempts were made to establish communications with the occupants inside the residence. Police were finally able to confirm there was another person inside with the suspect. Sometime after 11:00 AM on 12/11/14, police were successful in removing him from the residence uninjured.

During the standoff, Lee was yelling and swearing at police and waved a large knife outside a window several times. Lee stepped outside for a brief moment and police deployed a less lethal beanbag round in an attempt to safely apprehend him. Lee was able to retreat back inside the residence.

With assistance from the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office, both agencies were able to pool their resources and bring a peaceful end to a very long incident. We would like to thank the neighborhood and the community for your patience and support. Finally, we would like extend our sincere appreciation to the Salvation Army and American Red Cross for their support to our officers and citizens during this critical incident.
