[ARCHIVED] Police Standoff Continues

Today, at approximately 6:40 AM, the Twin Falls Police Department responded to 343 5th Avenue North for a report of a battery. The alleged victim of the battery was able to get out of the residence; however, another person was believed to still be inside with the suspect.

Several attempts were made to establish communications with the occupants inside the residence. Police were finally able to confirm there was another person inside with the suspect. Sometime after 11:00 AM, police were successful in removing him from the residence uninjured.

The kidnapping suspect is still inside and continues to be uncooperative with the Police. Several times the suspect has waved a large knife out the window. The suspect briefly stepped outside and police deployed a less lethal beanbag round in an attempt to safely apprehend him. The suspect was able to retreat back inside the residence.

The Twin Falls Police Department would like to inform any resident in the 300 block of 5th Avenue North to contact a police officer in front of the Salvation Army, located at 348 4th Avenue North, in order to be escorted back to your residence.
