[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Perrine and Hansen Bridges Closed Due to Strong Winds and Lane Blockage

The City of Twin Falls Police Department is assisting other agencies in closing both northbound and southbound traffic on the Perrine Bridge, and County agencies are working to close traffic to the Hansen Bridge.

Strong winds have blown over two semi trucks onto their sides on the Perrine Bridge, blocking northbound lanes. Emergency crews are working to remove the trucks. Also, a second truck was tipped over by wind gusts on the Hansen Bridge, which is again closed to allow emergency crews to remove the vehicle.

Emergency crews need to close all lanes of the bridge to safely remove the semis and their trailers.

Both incidents are believed to be caused by strong wind gusts. The National Weather Service has issues a High Wind Warning for the City of Twin Falls and surrounding areas until 6 p.m. Monday, March 17.

The City expects that it will be able to reopen the Perrine Bridge at about 3 p.m. today. However, the City of Twin Falls is encouraging semi trucks - especially those with empty trailers - to avoid or use caution while crossing the Perrine Bridge until 6 p.m. tonight.
