The Fourth of July holiday is almost one month away, but the City of Twin Falls Police Department would like to begin educating citizens about changes to our fireworks ordinance.
Emergency dispatchers and elected officials have received an increasing number of calls from citizens, who are expressing concern about safety and property damage caused by illegal fireworks being used in business and residential areas of the community.
The city responded by launching a community wide education campaign beginning in June 2013. The city ordinance was also modified to increase enforcement and fines for illegal fireworks, and to allow for the confiscation of illegal fireworks.
Illegal fireworks in the City of Twin Falls include bottle rockets, aerial shells, firecrackers and roman candles.
The Twin Falls Police Department will have additional officers on duty this year to enforce the the city's fireworks ordinance and respond to citizen complaints.
