[ARCHIVED] City Installing New Bollards and Signage to Prevent Vehicles on Trails

No Motorized Vehicles on Trails

During the last 30 days, the City of Twin Falls has seen a significant increase in the number of complaints regarding vehicles on City trails. It has come to the attention of the City that mapping platforms using Google Maps may display incorrect streets, addresses and directions.

Within the last month, the City has received reports of vehicles driving past — or in one case, over — bollards placed to prevent vehicles from accessing trails. In speaking with some of the drivers, they stated that their GPS units identified the trails as streets.

City trailheads have signs that clearly state no motorized vehicles are allowed. Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department is working to identify places where vehicles might be able to access the trail, and place additional signage or bollards to prohibit this from happening. The City is also trying to work with Google to address the mapping issues.

Drivers should follow all posted traffic and trail signs, and they should use GPS units with caution. If you see damage to City trails, please call the Twin Falls Parks & Recreation Department at 208-736-2265
