[ARCHIVED] Residents Asked to Help Prevent Isolated Flooding and Winter Driving Emergencies

IMG_3624

Residents of the City of Twin Falls are asked to do the following to prevent winter roadway emergencies:

Please ensure that storm drains are clear of any snow, ice or other debris: Storm drains that are clogged or otherwise prevent water from draining will cause isolated flooding. Please do not shovel snow onto or around storm drains. If you have a clogged storm drain, please call the City of Twin Falls Public Works Department at 208-736-2275. If possible, please shovel snow from drive and walkways onto lawns or permeable landscaping.

Please Use Caution While Driving: The City of Twin Falls is clearing main roads within the city limits, but it does not normally plow residential streets — priority is always given to main roads and on a case-by-case basis for emergency access. City plows are too large for residential streets and can damage vehicles or other property along those streets. In addition, the plows force snow to the side of the road, which blocks walkways and driveways. Due to significant snow accumulation on many residential streets, residents without proper vehicles should avoid driving unless necessary.

The City of Twin Falls maintain more than 470 lane miles of roadway with eight plow trucks. When significant snow events occur, the City asks resident to take additional precautions to prevent emergencies or the need for emergency response.
