Winter Weather Travel Advisories

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_d12

Winter weather advisory remains in effect with accumulating snowfall, bitterly cold temperatures and gusty winds.  We would like to remind motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling.  Allow for extra time to reach your destination and limit unnecessary travel.

The City of Twin Falls Street Department maintains over 600 total lane miles of roadway, utilizes snow and ice control measures which are directed at achieving and maintaining relatively safe traffic movement on public streets within a reasonable period of time.  City streets are prioritized for snow removal efforts beginning with main arterial streets which have the highest traffic volumes.  During heavy snow accumulations or slow-moving storms, city crews may need to make multiple passes on the same routes before they can move on to the next area of prioritization.

To preserve resources and protect the environment, winter storm control operations will cease when and acceptable level of service is reached for most City streets. Being aware of the weather conditions when traveling is crucial to ensuring a safe journey.
