The 2020 Census is in full-swing and we want to be sure that everyone in the City of Twin Falls gets counted.
Why is responding to the census important? Your responses to this once-a-decade population count of everyone living in the United States as of April 1, 2020, will help shape the future of our community and informs how billions of dollars in federal funding is distributed for important programs and services in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and emergency response. And, it will impact our representation in Congress.
When more people in our community respond, that means more opportunities for you, your family, and your friends and neighbors for the next 10 years – and that’s where you come in: we need you to respond to your census, and then encourage a friend to do the same.
The City of Twin Falls had a 69.7% response rate in 2010, and for 2020 we’re still sitting at 67.7% – and we want to beat that. That means when you receive your invitation in the mail to respond to the census, we’re asking you to respond online, by phone, or by mail right away.
Citizens of Twin Falls can join us in tracking our response rates via an interactive map on 2020census.gov so we can check our progress. The City of Twin Falls’ goal is to set an Idaho state record with a 75% response rate by Oct. 15.
If more people respond early and on their own to the census, then fewer census takers will need to visit homes – so please respond right away! Be sure to follow the instructions on your mailings. You have the option to respond online, by phone, or by mail.
