Construction will begin on the foundation for the Twin Falls Archway over Shoshone Street between City Park and the Twin Falls County Courthouse on Monday, March 9.
Work crews will alternate closures of the outside north-bound lane and the outside south-bound lane on Shoshone Street beginning Monday through Tuesday, March 10. Both inside lanes will remain open to maintain thru traffic, however, drivers should expect delays.
The City will announce additional lane closures in April, when work crews will set the archway onto the foundation.
Drivers should follow all posted traffic signs and signals; yield to workers and equipment within the construction area; and remember to never text while driving.
The Twin Falls Canal Company is constructing the foundation with materials donated by STARR Corp. Lytle Signs is building the archway that is based on citizen-suggested designs to the Twin Falls Archway Committee. The $324,636 community-project was also largely funded by donations and in-kind contributions from businesses and citizens of Twin Falls.
The 30-foot tall and 113-foot long archway will be constructed of steel and will include an electronic message board, which will display messages from Twin Falls County and the City of Twin Falls. The archway design will resemble the Perrine Bridge spanning the Snake River Canyon.
