Ruth Pierce and Suzanne Hawkins

The Twin Falls City Council voted on Monday, Jan. 6 to elect Suzanne Hawkins as the Mayor of the City of Twin Falls, and to support Hawkins’ nomination for Ruth Pierce to serve as vice-mayor.

Idaho Code 50-809 requires cities like the City of Twin Falls, which operate under the Council-Manager form of government, to elect one council member to be designated mayor for a period of two years, unless removed by the council or becomes disqualified.

Outgoing Mayor Shawn Barigar chose not to run for Mayor this term but will continue to serve on the Twin Falls City Council.

Craig Hawkins, who was elected by citizens of Twin Falls to serve on city council, took the oath of office on Monday. He replaces Chris Talkington who retired from City Council after almost 30 years of service.
