[ARCHIVED] Road Closures and Detours During Repaving at Falls and Eastland Intersection

Slow Down Sign

Contractors with the City of Twin Falls will close the intersection of Eastland Drive and Falls Avenue beginning Aug. 5 through Aug. 30 to replace the full-depth of deteriorating asphalt roadway with concrete pavement.

During the first phase of the project, all lanes through the intersection will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the project area, but drivers should expect delays and provide extra time to reach their destination.

Falls Avenue will remain closed after Aug. 30 through Sept. 30, but Eastland Drive will reopen for through traffic only. Local traffic, which includes most passenger vehicles, is encouraged to use Locust Street, Madrona, Street and Filer Avenue to detour around the project area. And all truck traffic, which includes semis and freight-haulers, should use the Blue Lakes Boulevard to Kimberly Road detour. (See below)

The full-depth replacement involves excavating the roadway at the intersection, and placing a more durable concrete pavement in its place. Contractors will also be laying new utilities such as fiber optic line and signal conduit.

Closing all lanes will expedite the project and reduce the impact on residents when school resumes. Questions regarding the Eastland/Falls Project should be directed to Josh Baird, City of Twin Falls Staff Engineer, at 208-735-7323.
