Due to numerous complaints, it has come to the attention of the Twin Falls Police Department that motorists have begun using alternative routes through residential areas in order to avoid road construction on Washington Street North.
While police understand why drivers would want to avoid the construction, police are asking drivers to reduce speeds and be more cautious when driving on narrower streets where, in particular, there are more children and pets at risk from the increased traffic.
In an effort to maintain safety, police have stepped up patrols in these areas. Drivers should remember that the speed limit in these unposted residential streets is 25 mph, unless the situation calls for lower speeds.
If you have questions about the actual construction on Washington Street North, we have some answers.
